AEW CEO Tony Khan has now officially announced a new signing to the promotion after over a month since their debut.
At the end of May, former Artist of Stardom and Goddesses of Stardom Champion Thekla made her first appearance for AEW after weeks of on-screen teases.
She has since wrestled regularly for the promotion, including being part of the women’s Casino Gauntlet match at AEW All In Texas, which was won by Athena.
In a new announcement today, July 19, Tony Khan has officially confirmed that Thekla is “All Elite.”
Khan explained that the delay in the announcement had been due to Thekla being placed on a 45-day probation period following her debut due to the circumstances of her exit from Stardom.
This is of course all in storyline, as Thekla was “fired” by Stardom after she attacked the promotion’s president Taro Okada.
Tony Khan wrote:
Due to her attack on President @tokada_mh4e + her termination for cause from @we_are_stardom, after her debut June 4 at Fyter Fest #AEWCollision, I placed Thekla on a 45 day probation period before validating her contract.
Her probation ended today.
@toxic_thekla is All Elite!
This past week on AEW Dynamite, Thekla won a $100,000 four-way match against Kris Statlander, Willow Nightingale and Queen Aminata thanks to help from Skye Blue and Julia Hart, with Thekla, Blue and Hart seemingly forming a new trio going forward.
